Abraham Koshy, working as Professor of Marketing at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), is a reputed teacher, researcher, consultant and corporate trainer. He joined IIM Ahmedabad as a faculty in 1989. At IIM Ahmedabad, he teaches in the two-year Post Graduate Program, the one-year Post Graduate Program for Executives, the one-year Post Graduate Program in Public Policy and Management, the Doctoral Program and in various executive education programs. He coordinates and teaches the short-duration Executive Program on "Developing and Managing Brands". In the academic year 2007-'08, he offered a short-dutation Executive Program on "New Product Strategy".

He has held resonibilities at IIM Ahmedabad as Charperson, Marketing Area, Editor and Chairperson of the Editorial Commmittee of Vikalpa: Journal for Decision Makers published by the Institute, and Chairperson, Alumni Relations Committee. He was/is a member of various executive committees that manage programs and activities of the Institute such as Doctoral Program Committee, Post Graduate Program Committee, Executive Committee for the One- Year Post Graduate Program for Executives, One-Year Post Graduate Program in Public Management and Policy, Post Graduate Program in Agri Business Management, Admissions Committee, Executive Committee for Management Development Programs, and so on.

Professor Koshy is a co-author of the Marketing management book with the legendary marketing guru Prof. Philip Kotler and others (Marketing Management: A South Asian Perspective by Kotler, Keller, Koshy and Jha; Person Education, 2006). In addition to this book, he is a co-author of Growth and Transformations of Small Firms in India (Oxford University Press) and a co-editor of Managing Alternatives (Macmillan India Limited) and Marketing of Information Products and Services (IIM Ahmedabad). He has published several research papers and case studies in reputed journals such as Revue Francaise du Marketing, Asian Journal of Marketing, Vikalpa - The Journal for Decision Makers, IIMB Management Review etc. He has contributed chapters in books, and has presented papers in many national and international research seminars. Professor Koshy's general areas of expertise and research interests are on issues relating to new brand development strategies of companies, product and brand management processes, and customer relationship orientations of companies cutting across different verticals.

Prof. Koshy has conducted training programs and offered modules relating to Strategic Marketing and Customer Management for senior executives of several companies in India and abroad. Some of these companies include TATA Steel, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson Medical Division (Asia-Pacific), General Electric, Aviva Insurance, ST Microelectronics, Sumaria Group of Companies, Zubair Group of Companies, Mauritius Telecom, OTIS Elevator, Pfizer, British Council, Indian Oil Corporation, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Baroda, Zydus Cadilla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Apollo Tyres, HDFC Bank, Bharati Televentures, State Bank of Saurastra and so on. He has conducted executive training programs in countries such as Singapore, France, UK, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius and Egypt.

Currently, he is a Visiting Professor at European School of Management, Paris and Glasgow University, UK. He was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Marketing and at Strathclyde Business School, Strahclyde University, UK.

Professor Koshy is closely associated with several companies in India and abroad as a consultant in addressing decision issues relating to marketing strategy, product and brand management and customer management processes. These include business to business and consumer product and services companies.

He is an Independent Director in the Board of Directors of the following public limited companies:

  • Malayala Manorama Publishing Company Limited - one of the most respected publishing companies in India with several periodicals and publications. This company publishes a daily newspaper that has a circulation of over 1.5 million copies and has one of the highest readership in the country
  • The Federal Bank Limited - one of the leading private sector commercial banks in India with over 600 branches and 6000 employees. rated as the "most efficient private sector bank in India" by a leading business magazine in India
  • Autoline Industries Limited - a rapidly growing and leading OEM supplier of auto components to auto industry in India. Have recently acquires two companies in the US
He is also a member in advisory committees constituted by government organizations and industry associations.
